A pet known as ‘Britain’s loneliest dog’ has finally been rehomed after spending 1,000 days in kennels.

Three-year-old Faith was found by actor Anthony Head, dodging traffic as a puppy and was taken to a cats and dogs centre – where she has lived since 2017.

The brindle Staffordshire bull terrier has had “no interest from potential adopters” at Bath Cats and Dogs Home in Somerset, after being rescued by the actor, best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

But Faith has finally found a family – a couple who have travelled from across the country to adopt her. Taylor Elliot and her husband Matt travelled from Norfolk, to pick up Faith. Taylor said: “She was the one – something just said to me she needs a family.”

The couple said they could see how “loving and fun” she was and that she just needed “a chance”. Taylor’s husband Matt added: “It’s going to be enjoyable having her – her personality is already coming through.”

And Nicky Cragg, from the rescue centre, said the team was “over the moon” that Faith had finally found a home.

She said: “All the team is so, so pleased Faith’s found her forever home and that they are willing to take her on and to give her that chance.”
