Looking for the perfect coastal escape where your doggy pal is more than welcome? Wells-Next-The-Sea, situated in North Norfolk, might just be your dream destination.

Finding a spot where dogs are not only allowed but truly welcomed can often be a bit of a mission. Despite the challenges, there are still some gems in the UK that are pawfect for canine enthusiasts.

Emily Gill from Great British Dog Walks took to social media to address those who question her frequent visits to what might seem like “just a beach.” Sharing beautiful snapshots from her trips, she captioned: “It’s dog heaven on earth. Whenever the summer weather arrives, I find myself wishing I could be right here.”

Just a three-hour drive from London, the seaside town of Wells features a vast 1.4km sandy beach where dogs are welcome to roam freely all year round. The first 200 yards of the beach are designated as a dog-free zone to maintain cleanliness for those who prefer to enjoy the sand without canine company. However, beyond the pinewood entrances, it becomes an off-leash paradise for pets and their owners.

Well-behaved dogs can enjoy off-leash freedom, although they will need to be leashed temporarily during the local wild birds’ nesting period.

Viewers of Emily’s video were delighted to find such a beautiful beach open to everyone, with many taking to the comments to express their excitement. One viewer commented: “I’ll be there for a week with Pablo at the beginning of September and I can’t wait. It has a special place in my heart.”

Another added: “I visited on our trip to Norfolk thanks to you and we loved it. We’re going back in September and we will definitely be going again.”

A third admirer of the beach wrote: “My favourite beach. Recognised it straight away. This was the first place we went after lockdown and have such lovely memories with the pooch and kids.”
