New data from GoCompare has revealed the UK’s most popular lockdown dog breeds, who are prime targets for thieves.

Since the UK officially entered lockdown on 23 March 2020, smaller dogs have been the most attractive pandemic partner, here are the top ten most popular dog breeds through lockdown.

1.         French Bulldog

            The French Bulldog is the most popular breed in the UK in lockdown with 9,324 purchased.

2.         Labrador retriever

            Second on the list is the larger Labrador retriever, with 7,255 purchased.

3.         Cocker spaniel

            The Cocker spaniel is next on the list, with 5,269 purchased.

4.         German shepherd

            The German shepherd (Alsatian) is fourth on the list, with 2,645 purchased through lockdown.

5.         Bulldog

            Fifth is the Bulldog, with 2,085 purchased.

6.         Staffordshire bull terrier

            The Staffordshire bull terrier is the sixth most popular breed in the UK through lockdown, with 1,906 purchased.

7.         Miniature short-haired dachshund

            The miniature short-haired dachshund is next on the list, with 1,860 purchased.

8.         English Springer spaniel

            The English Springer spaniel is eight on the list with 1,856 purchased.

9.         Border Collie

            The Border collie is the ninth most popular lockdown breed, with 1,753 purchased.

10.        Golden retriever

            In 10th place on the list is the Golden retriever, with 1,733 purchased through lockdown.
