CAT OWNER FUMES AS FRIEND FEEDS HIS PET CHOCOLATE – BUT WON’T ACCEPT THE BLAME

Most cat owners will know that there are certain things you should never give them because it can be dangerous.

For example, there are certain flowers, such as lilies, you shouldn’t have in your home because they are toxic to cats – which means if they nibble at them they can get very sick.

Another big no-no for cats is chocolate, which can be fatal if your cat eats it in large enough amounts.

One pet owner was furious after he let his best friend take care of his cat, but came home to find she had given his furry friend chocolate, which had made her sick.

Taking to Reddit’s OffMyChest forum, the 26-year-old explained: “The only condition I gave her is she doesn’t feed him anything other than the cat treats I showed her. When she asked if she could feed him chocolate, I said no because it is dangerous.”

The man, whose name on the forum is Oliver, explained that despite knowing that chocolate is dangerous for cats, she fed her “a little bit of it”.

Oliver explained that he had come home to find that his cat Zoe had vomited and was “breathing rapidly”.

He explained: “When I came home I found out that my poor cat vomited but fortunately, after I took her to the vet, she is okay now.”

The cat owner also shared the story on Reddit’s Advice forum, where he said: “I’m really mad at my friend. She told me it was my fault and that I should have been more specific about how bad the chocolate would be, and that I didn’t explain in enough details.”

His 25-year-old friend “insists” that it wasn’t her fault and that “she wouldn’t have done it if she knew how bad it would be”.

Oliver added: “She’s being very stubborn in her refusal to accept that she was wrong. How do I get it through to her?”

Commenters flocked to support the cat owner, and said he shouldn’t stay friends with someone who wouldn’t feel remorse for putting his pet in danger.

One person said: “People like that aren’t worth the effort, just dump her. There could also be a possibility of her harming your cat again.”

Another agreed, saying: “Do you really want to stay friends with someone who intentionally did something they were told not to do, actually saw the harm they did by ignoring your instructions, and still refused to admit her error?”

After receiving so many comments saying the same, Oliver shared that he was “cutting her out of my life”.

He added: “The comments really helped me take a look at this from a different perspective. Me telling her that it is a dangerous thing to do should have been enough without giving her details and she is still refusing to take responsibility for what she did.”
