A trail in north Norfolk has been named one of the UK’s best for dog walking.

Bacton Wood was recognized in a survey by Dog Friendly Cottages. The company recently launched an interactive map highlighting the best places to walk a dog in each postcode.

Each location is assigned a “paw score” based on factors like trail size, nearby dog-friendly cafes, and user ratings.

Bacton Wood, located near North Walsham, ranked among the top eight dog walking trails nationwide.

The 113-hectare woodland is home to over 30 tree species, including beech, Douglas fir, and western hemlock.

Visitors can follow three circular walking routes, each marked with coloured lines on wooden posts.

The trails take you through a mix of shaded tree-lined paths and open spaces.

Dogs are welcome year-round, and there are always plenty of furry friends to meet along the way.

Visitors can make a day out of it by stopping off at the nearby Bacton and Walcott beaches.

While in the area, visit one of the dog friendly cafes such as Cafe Carmel in Bacton and the Kingfisher Cafe in Walcott.
