According to research conducted by Hunting Terrain, Eastbourne in Sussex emerged as the premier destination for dog owners seeking to explore with their beloved four-legged companions. The study delved into the abundance of dog-friendly amenities across various locales, including pubs, cafes, shops, and hotels, ultimately positioning Eastbourne at the pinnacle of the list.
The highest-ranking town was the one with the most dog-friendly location, with Eastbourne having 35 dog-friendly pubs, 57 shops, and 35 cafes and restaurants.
Eastbourne is also packed with mutt-friendly beaches and parks, as well as hotels and Airbnb stays.
Claiming the runner-up spot for dog-friendly holiday destinations was Brighton, a vibrant seaside resort boasting a plethora of over 60 dog-welcoming hotels listed on Booking.com. Following closely behind was Blackpool, renowned for its five dog-friendly beaches and a wealth of more than 40 hotels and bed-and-breakfast accommodations catering to canine companions.
Rounding out the remainder of the top 10 were destinations such as Bournemouth, lauded for its numerous dog-friendly beaches, Portsmouth, celebrated for its abundance of attractions welcoming canine companions, and Norwich.
Conversely, on the opposite end of the spectrum, Wolverhampton emerged as the least accommodating area for dog owners, with scarce listings of dog-friendly cafes, restaurants, or hotels.
Following closely behind in the rankings of the least hospitable places for dog-friendly outings was St. Helen’s, with only one pub listed as welcoming dogs.
Dudley was found to be the third least dog-friendly place in the UK, thanks to a lack of amenities welcoming mutts, but there are still three hotels listed as being pet-friendly.
For those seeking a perfect beach day with their furry friend, Par Sands in St. Austell, Cornwall, clinched the title of the UK’s finest dog-friendly beach. Renowned for its year-round welcome to pooches, it even boasts a petite pool perfect for canine paddling adventures.
Edinburgh to Kirkwall has been named the UK’s most dog-friendly road trip in the UK, with 336 dog-friendly Airbnbs, 90 vets and 72 dog-friendly restaurants along the route.
