CUNNING CAT RETURNS HOME WITH INCREDIBLE NOTE AROUND HER NECK FROM TOBY CARVERY

A sneaky cat came up with a clever two-timing plan – only for it to be scuppered by suspicious pub workers.

Tula, an 11-year-old Siberian cat, found a cunning way to double up her meals. She would wait to get fed at home before heading down to the Toby Carvery in Swindon, where she would dine on a roast dinner from staff and customers, who had become fond of their new favourite local.

It was the perfect ruse; her owner didn’t know about Toby Carvery and Toby Carvery didn’t know about her owner, Nicole Clark.

But one day, Tula arrived home and Nicole spotted her pet had a paper collar wrapped around her neck. Unravelling the note, it read: “Does this cat have a home?” and on the reverse side: “Always at Toby Carvery.” And just like that, Tula’s game was up.

Nicole admitted she couldn’t stop laughing when she found the note, and headed straight to Toby Carvery to let them know Tula wasn’t homeless. They revealed the cat had spent hours meowing at staff and customers for food until someone eventually gave in and shared some of their roast – and Tula had been going back ever since.

As Nicole left the restaurant, she actually came face-to-face with Tula, who was sitting by the patio tables, probably heartbroken that her double dinner days were over. The owner shared the hilarious story on Facebook, writing: “I can imagine she’s been trying for the sympathy vote in the hope of getting some meat! She has a lovely home and spends every night with us but thank you Toby customers/workers for looking out for her!”

It wasn’t the first time Tula had been caught scrounging for an extra meal; previously the sneaky cat had taken to visiting a local old people’s home where residents would give her meat paste from their sandwiches. People were left in stitches by the note on social media, with one writing: “Omg that’s hilarious. I’ve got visions of her lining up ready for her Yorkshire and choice of meat.” Another said: “What a genius – hanging at the Toby… great scrap opportunities!”

It comes after a cat owner was left red-faced when their feline came home with a whole cooked chicken in his mouth – and was too embarrassed to ask the neighbours if anyone was missing their Sunday meat. “My cat has just turned up on my patio with a small roasted chicken in his greedy mouth,” the mum wrote in an anonymous confession on Mumsnet. She admitted it wasn’t the first time he has broken into someone else’s home, adding: “He has form for sneaking into neighbours’ houses through doors and windows.”

Mortified, she was unsure how to tackle the issue, and realised she couldn’t ask her neighbours if they were missing a vital part of their Sunday roast as she would have to come clean about her stealing moggie. She further wrote: “I can’t really go knocking on doors to ask if anyone is missing their dinner. Mortified doesn’t cover it!”

Other pet owners were quick to chime in with their own hilarious ordeals from thieving cats. One mum said: “My cat ate next door’s hamster! Also rocked up with a boiling hot Cornish pasty in her mouth once. Mortified, I never told the neighbour, kinder to let her believe her hamster had escaped and run away.”

Another person added: “That’s quite a catch. Our cat when I was younger caught a coy carp out of the neighbour’s pond. The huge fish was still alive and my poor dad had to take it back in a bucket and apologise.” A third added: “My dog ate all the sausages out of somebody’s hotpot they had cooking outside their tent. We colluded with our next-door tent to say we’d seen a fox.”
